Fundación Pachamama contributes to the “Sumak Kawsay” (“Well-Being”) of the Ecuadorian and Peruvian Amazon, promoting the conservation of the Amazonian rainforest through alternative models that strengthen climate justice and the self-determination of nationalities and indigenous peoples.

Our organization supports the Amazonian indigenous nationalities when it comes to enforcing their collective rights. The objective is to achieve recognition of their culture and the protection of their territories.

We are committed to protecting the territories by preserving the forested areas and all the beings that inhabit them in the most biodiverse region in the world.

To that end, the programs and projects that we develop focus on promoting the permanent protection of the Amazonian Sacred Headwaters, empowering women through maternal-infant health programs, sustainable production through bio-entrepreneurship, strengthening of the indigenous organizations, conservation and titling of ancestral lands, the promotion of alternative development models, the sustainable use of natural resources, the guarantee of the rights of the Amazonian nationalities, and climate change mitigation.

Mission

We support the permanent protection of the Amazon and the autonomous management of the Amazonian territories and indigenous peoples against the threats that promote their accelerated destruction.

We promote the adoption of resilient and innovative models that respect life, recognizing nature and human rights. Taking “Well-Being” into account, along with the nationalities and native peoples of the Pan-Amazonian region, we create proposals to generate the necessary conditions for strengthening the peoples’ autonomy.

Vision

To strengthen the vision of a universal future for the Amazon and the world by 2030; in a quest for a sustainable, inclusive, and innovative society based on the respect of nature and human rights.

Ties with The Pachamama Alliance

An alliance that dreams of a better future for humanity

For 25 years, we have collaborated with our sister organization, Pachamama Alliance, located in San Francisco, CA, United States to educate and inspire people worldwide to achieve a prosperous, just, and sustainable future.

The Pachamama Alliance Co-Founders: Bill Twist, Lynne Twist, and John Perkins are closely linked to the indigenous communities of Ecuador, staying close and leading trips to the Amazon with donors to present the results of our work.

Year after year, The Pachamama Alliance directly contributes to the financing of Fundación Pachamama and maintains permanent coordination on specific projects. The Pachamama Alliance gives advice and guidance, presenting us with strategic initiatives to boost the support for the protection of the rainforest in Ecuador and the Amazon basin.
