Fundación Pachamama is a non-profit organization that works to defend nature and the indigenous peoples of the Amazon territory. Our work consists of accompanying indigenous nationalities in processes of enforceability of collective rights and protection of their lands.
On December 4, 2013, the Ecuadorian government proceeded to carry out the arbitrary closure and dissolution of Fundación Pachamama.
The carrying out of closure occurred within the framework of the application of Executive Decree No.16, which created the Regulations that regulate the Unified Information System of Social Organizations, that allowed the harassment and persecution of civil society organizations who carried out work in defense of human rights and rights of nature.
In 2014, Fundación Pachamama went before the Inter-American Human Rights System to demand respect for defending human rights performed by civil society organizations such as Fundación Pachamama in Ecuador.
In 2017, the restoration of the legal personality of Fundación Pachamama occurred; thus, making it possible to start its official activities.
We are continuing the process before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
