The Problem

On December 4, 2013, the Ecuadorian government proceeded to carry out the arbitrary closure and dissolution of Fundación Pachamama.

The carrying out of closure occurred within the framework of the application of Executive Decree No.16, which created the Regulations that regulate the Unified Information System of Social Organizations, that allowed the harassment and persecution of civil society organizations who carried out work in defense of human rights and rights of nature.
